As I mentioned earlier, the Sultan’s Rollse-Royce collection holds the Guinness World Record with over 500 Rollse-Royce cars.

The finest of the collection is the Phantom VI, a fine British limousine built from 1968 to 1990. Its very limited production run meant that only 374 units were built in over 20 years. Its exterior looks very similar to the facelifted Phantom V. Why is it called the Phantom? No precise explanation can be found, but the fact is that the great predecessors were called ghosts.
Interestingly, this car is an object that almost embodies the entire British aristocracy. A striking example of this is that Elizabeth II owned two Rolls-Royce Phantom VIs until her death in 2022. Yet it was not only produced in Britain, but also in the United States. Few people know, but the Phantom I and Phantom II were assembled in Springfield until 1936, in parallel with the British site, with slightly different engineering and a more modest body style. The chassis were typically supplied with bodies by Brewster. By the time production ceased, just over 1200 Rolls-Royces had been built overseas.
As was customary, the Sultan of Brunei ordered four Phantom VIs, the Rolls-Royce Cloudesque. The car was a modernised version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, produced between 1955 and 1966, with engine modifications and gearbox upgrades.
The Sultan personally uses a Black Phantom VI most often. Prince Al-Mutadehh Billah uses a Phantom VII and the princesses’ favourite is a Phantom VIII.
The Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II was a luxury limousine produced by Rolls-Royce between 1989 and 1993. The Sultan of Brunei also ordered a Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II stretch limousine for his wedding day, but the car was modified to have the entire vehicle plated in 24-carat gold, and the limousine was estimated to cost $14 million.
The Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit is a full-size luxury car manufactured by Rolls-Royce Motors in Crewe, England, between 1980 and 1997. It was the first model in the SZ series. The Silver Spur is the long wheelbase version of the Silver Spirit, produced between 1980 and 2000. It was the first car to have a retractable Spirit of Ecstasy – this means that the spring emblem would sink into the shell of the radiator when it moved out of position. This prevented any theft or damage.
