HONDA PRELUDE 2025

The Honda Prelude is coming back, even to Europe!

In The Glasshouse Kolosy building, where my museum is also located, there is a regular 🏍️ “Bikes & Coffee” 🏍️ biker meeting every Sunday from 4:00 p.m., where bikers can get a free iced coffee at the Churchill Bar Gourmet and play for free for an hour at at a pool table. Motorcyclists who arrive early can enter our intimate passage with their motorbikes.
If you manage to stop the 2001 car-themed action film The Fast And The Furious at a certain moment, you can see a fifth-generation Honda Prelude featured in a key scene.
The inclusion of Honda’s sports coupe in one of the most successful film franchises in history is no mistake – the Prelude is regarded by modified car enthusiasts as one of the finest sports coupes ever made. And now, 23 years after the last Honda Prelude went on sale, an all-new model arrives.
The new Prelude has no problem turning heads on the street, as its swept-back roofline, sculpted hood and deep front air intakes help it stand out even against sporty coupe rivals such as the BMW 2-Series M240i and Mercedes-AMG CLA 35, or maybe the Toyota GR86. Most of the technical details of the new Prelude remain under wraps, but officials have confirmed that the new model will be a hybrid, and before you say Dominic Toretto is turning over in his fictional grave, remember that being a hybrid these days isn’t just about the green license plate, but also about performance.
In fact, the instant power provided by the electric motor will likely make the new Prelude feel pleasantly quick, even considering the weight of the hybrid battery, and like the Prelude of the past, the new car is expected to come standard with front-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive options without.
Honda is no stranger to hybrid technology, the current Honda Jazz small car, the Honda Civic family car, and the Honda CR-V, HR-V and ZR-V SUVs all have hybrid power. In the Civic, a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor together produce 181 horsepower. Sources suggest this is what the Prelude uses with around 204 horsepower. The fastest versions of the old Prelude were produced with 220 horsepower. (JDM 5th gen Prelude SiR S-Spec and Type-S (BB6)) Despite being expected to deliver a sporty driving experience, Honda officials have already hinted that the Prelude won’t be the toughest car in its range – it remains the Honda Civic Type-R, which gets 330 horsepower from the 2-liter turbo gasoline engine.
We haven’t seen the interior of the Prelude yet, but expect it to offer four- or five-passenger seating arrangements, a low driving position, and similar technology to the latest 11th-generation Civic.
