Mini Clubman Estate, Burberry Edition – the most fashionable British small car
The British have arrived! The British themed exhibition of the 365 Oldtimer Museum has opened its doors and will be on display to the public until March. The current exhibition presents many iconic cars, such as the Lotus Omega, Lotus Espirit, SS Jaguars, Jaguar E-Types, Jaguar Sovereigns, an Aston Martin DB7, Rolls-Royces, and a Mini, not just any edition. In addition to all this, we have a little surprise for our adult guests, as the purchased on site tickets also come with a free glass of Guinness! Now we present one of the gems of the exhibition, a 1982 Mini Clubman Estate car, which was released in a special Burberry edition.
The Mini Clubman Estate Burberry Edition is a limited edition model that combines the iconic Mini brand and the famous British fashion house, Burberry. The Mini probably needs no introduction, as it is one of the most popular vintage cars in the world, and thanks to the millions of units produced, many of them are still on the road today. The Clubman is a less common model and was created specifically to provide more luggage space. The spacious luggage compartment can be accessed through a split double-leaf door.
The edition bears the name of the London fashion house Burberry, which is known for its distinctive checkered pattern. The Mini on display bears this pattern, running along the beltline on the outside and on the door trim and seats on the inside. Last but not least, this small car also carries luxury, as its seats are not only made of the aforementioned checkered material, but also covered in leather. In addition to all this, the Burberry logo can be found in several places on the car, which also reinforces the limited edition nature. The car was also available with uniquely designed aluminum wheels. The driving experience of the car brings what you are used to from a Mini: agile, easy to handle, comfortable.
It is also worth mentioning the history of the Burberry fashion house, which will celebrate its 160th anniversary next year, so its foundation can be dated back to 1865. The company was dreamed up by Thomas Burberry, who originally made luxury goods. He opened his first boutique in Hampshire. By 1870, their profile was mainly leisure clothing. They developed gabardine (a plush, synthetic material similar to fur, which is waterproof and breathable), which they patented in 1888. The development of the company was unbroken, and by 1911 they dressed the famous Norwegian polar explorer, Roald Amundsen, and Ernest Shackleton, who was attempting to conquer Antarctica. In 1914, they were commissioned to design a coat for soldiers fighting in the trenches, which became popular among civilians after the war. Their trademark, the checkered pattern, also first appeared on this coat, as a lining, and began to spread from 1924. We can also mention a film appearance, for example, such a coat could be seen on Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, and Peter Sellers in The Pink Panther. The classic, black, white and red pattern began to be used more widely from 1967, and umbrellas, scarves, and bags were designed with it. The products were primarily designed for the younger generation. Burberry still represents a significant trend in the fashion world today. Its most characteristic products are women’s and men’s wool and cotton storm coats, autumn and winter coats. One level below the Oldtimer Museum, you can find a vintage clothing store, where fashion lovers can also find their needs.
