NISSAN FIGARO

The Nissan Figaro is a two-door car manufactured by Nissan in 1991 for the Japanese market. It is a fixed-profile convertible with a 2+2 seating arrangement, based on the original Nissan March/Micra. The Figaro uses a 1.0-liter (987 cc) turbocharged engine generating 76 PS (56 kW; 75 hp) and 78 lbft (106 Nm) of torque through a three-speed automatic transmission, front MacPherson struts, rear four-link coil spring suspension; rack and pinion steering, front ventilated disc and rear drum brakes. A total of 20,073 Figaros were produced by Nissan in the convertible’s single year of series production.

The Nissan Figaro was produced for only two years: 1991 and 1992. It was one of the four “Pike cars” that Nissan made in the late 1980s and early 1990s, along with the Be-1, Pao, and S-Cargo. These cars were designed to be retro, quirky, and fun, and they were sold only in Japan through a lottery system. The Figaro has become a cult classic among car enthusiasts and collectors, and it is still admired for its unique style and charm.

These cars were designed to be retro, quirky, and fun, and they were sold only in Japan through a lottery system. The Figaro was introduced at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show under the slogan “Back to the Future” and was based on the first-generation Nissan Micra. It had a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine, a three-speed automatic transmission, and a fixed-profile convertible roof. It came in four colors, each representing a season: Topaz Mist (spring), Emerald Green (summer), Pale Aqua (autumn), and Lapis Grey (winter). Only 20,073 Figaros were produced in 1991 and 1992, but many of them have been imported to other countries, especially the UK and Ireland. The Figaro has become a cult classic among car enthusiasts and collectors, and it is still admired for its unique style and charm.

The Nissan Figaro was designed by Shoji Takahashi and Naoki Sakai, who were part of the Pike Factory, a special projects group within Nissan. Takahashi won a design competition with his concept for the Figaro. Sakai had previously designed the Be-1, another Pike car, and also contributed to the Pao and Rasheen models. They aimed to create a retro, quirky, and fun car that was based on the Nissan March/Micra platform. The Figaro was launched at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show under the slogan “Back to the Future”.

The Nissan Figaro has appeared in several movies and TV series, such as The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Confetti, Godzilla, and Doctor Who.
