HONDA B-SERIES

🔥More reliable than a wood-fired oven.👌

Let me take this opportunity to invite you to the 365 Oldtimer Museum and see our unique exhibition of more than 2,000 square meters of nearly 60 cars and 30 motorcycles, which are thematically changed and updated at intervals. It is worth visiting our website regularly to find out about the current interesting things.
The B-series is a family of inline four-cylinder DOHC automotive engines introduced by Honda in 1988. The B-series with dual overhead cams on the camshaft was a performance option offered with Honda’s VTEC system.
The B-engines are one of the most successful and best engines Honda has ever produced. They are so reliable that it practically ruined Honda financially, because it almost didn’t need any spare parts afterwards.
These are Honda’s legendary reliable engines despite the high revs. With practically correct use, they run many, many hundreds of thousands of kilometers without any faults. Specimens that have run a million kilometers are not rare either.
According to Jeremy Clarkson, Honda’s VTEC system is more reliable than a wood-burning furnace.
Engine variants: B16 1.6 L (1,595 cc), B17 1.7 L (1,678 cc), B18 1.8 L (1,797 cc), 1.8 L (1,834 cc) and the B20 2.0 L (1,973 cc ) versions, with and without VTEC (variable valve timing and electronic lift control). Later models made minor improvements, including modifications to the intake valves, connectors and piston tops, and individual cylinder oil injectors (B18C models). They are capable of outputs between 126 PS (94 kW; 128 PS) and 190 PS (142 kW; 193 PS), with some models capable of revs above 8,500 rpm.
Although there are many variations, the basic design differs very little. There are actually two short blocks that are used for the entire series. The difference between them was the height of the cylinder block cover. The head height used for the B16 and B17 engines (except the B16B) is 203.9 mm, while the short block used for the B16B, B18 and B20 engines has a head height of 212 mm.
Model versions: Accord, Civic, (Si, SiR, SiRII, Civic Type-R, Integra (GSR, SiR, SiRII, ) Integra Type-R, CRX.
The real driving experience can be felt when the bigger cams engage through an oil system in that certain VTEC range above 5,500 rpm, where the characteristics and sound of the engine change. The user can feel a kind of push and a much more serious force. This lasts until 8500 rpm.
The Honda B-series was replaced by the K-series in the Civic, Integra, Odyssey and CR-V models.
